During its tour through Germany, the WMF1 Wall doesn’t only dispense coffee, the ever changing arrangement of black and white coffee machines, being used like pixels, turn it into a communication channel in its own right.
Yvonne, how did the idea of the WMF1 Wall come about?
We wanted to help the WMF1, which is the smallest coffee-pad machine in the world, to a big bang. It has been awarded with many design prizes, but still lacks consumer recognition.
How was the WMF1 Wall premiere at the Frühlingsfest in Stuttgart?
It was great. People formed instant queues and were very interested in what we had created. Some even explained to their kids, what the wall was doing. Others had never heard of the WMF1 before and were positively surprised.
Tell us about how you experienced theproject …
We experienced a number of setbacks. We did one step ahead and took two paces back. It was a tough process. But now we are happy to have managed to pull it off.
