Why build your own museum if you can use that of others for your own purposes? For Bosch, Dorten and Dorten Bauer thought up and designed a museum guide for visitors to the new Mercedes-Benz Museumin Stuttgart Untertürkheim. The exhibition boasts hundreds of Bosch innovations from the last 123 years of Bosch history. The “Bosch Finder” is evidence of an historical partnership of two world-class companies that once invented the automobile and are still defining it today.
Nina, isn’t Bosch a much to modest company to do something like this …?
You are probably right. I guess it was thanks to the smarts of our contact person at Bosch that it worked out this way. We first got Mercedes-Benz on our side with the idea and then presented it internally at Bosch … that was a bit daring, of course. And since Mercedes liked the idea,our client was quickly convinced to go along!
So the guide was also positive for the relationship between Mercedes and Bosch?
Absolutely. That’s why Mercedes-Benz said yes, because they highly value their connection to Bosch and vice versa. And because the two companies go back a really long, long time together.
The Bosch Finder is a project which is strongly reduced to a single idea. Is it a typicalDorten project?
Definitely, yes. A very simple idea that causes a big stir. They’re selling the book now also in the Mercedes-Benz Museum. Everyone who hears of the idea thinks it’s great!
